Menwa Studied Vegetative Propagation
[unsoed.ac.id, Thu, 16/02/17] Agriculture is a significant aspect of national security especially Indonesia as an agricultural country. Members of Student Regiment (Menwa) should be aware of this. Thus, held in Technical Executing Unit of Horticulture Development Board, district of Wangon, Banyumas, members of MenwaMahadipa Batalyon 904/Kalayudha Unsoed studied vegetative propagation on Thursday (09/2).
Supervised by Managing Team of the Unit, the members studied as well as practiced how to plant vegetative by applying budding, grafting, cuttings and layering methods. The focus of this planting methods is layering. The members of Menwa practiced layering method on guava plant to produce 125 layers starting from peeling the stems, preparing soil, and polybags and binding them.
According to the Commander of MenwaMahadipa Batalyon 904/Kalayudha Setyo Utomo, this activity aims to improve skills as well as a manifestation of their mission. “ In its short-term goal, the members of this regiment are expected to practice the skill they obtain while its long-term goal, they expected that the 125 layered plants they produced will grow well which are then used for Social Charity to celebrate Menwa’s 40th anniversary next April.
