Postgraduate General Lecture: Sustainable Agriculture and Supply Chain
[unsoed.ac.id, Tue, 27/02/18] “Sustainable Supply Chain and Standards: Case Study in Africa”was the general lecture topic held by Magister Program of Agribusiness, Tuesday (20/02). The lecture presented Dr. rer.agr. Marco Hartmann (GIZ, GmbH, Head of Programme on Sustainable Supply Chain and Standards).
The Head of Magister Program of Agribusiness, Dr. Ir. Suyono, M.S., explained that 30 participants attended this activity and they were students, lecturers and coordinators of postgraduate programs (Agribusiness, Agriculture Service, Environment Science, and Biotechnology), and lecturers of Agribusiness S1 Program.
The activity was officially opened by the Director of Postgraduate Program, Prof. Ir. Totok Agung Dwi Hariyanto, M.P., Ph.D., and he addressed that the general lecture was really relevant with the multi-disciplinary subjects in Unsoed’s Postgraduate Program. Therefore, the students could expand their horizon related to sustainable agriculture and supply chain. He also hoped the lecture can stimulate academic activities by inviting overseas researchers to share up-to-date information as well as advanced technology.
This 2-hour lecture began with an interactive presentation by Dr. Hartmann who delivered the implementation of agriculture program to alleviate poverty in African countries (Malawi, Senegal, and Ghana).He informed that the program is initiated by Germany and the local governments of the African countries and is supported by national and international organizations. “In each country there are dissimilar implementations based on their particular conditions. In fact, we face many obstacles like the economy, the social-political situation, climate, and the availability of the local natural resources.
