Silfi Emilia, a student of the Nursing Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, showed her commitment and high spirit in nursing. The girl born in Cilacap, October 3, 2002, successfully won 1st place in the Cancer Education Video Competition held by Widya Husada University, Semarang. The competition was attended by dozens of students from various universities in Indonesia who have a concern for public health education.
In the competition, Silfi presented a cancer-themed educational video that was not only informative but also interesting and communicative, so it was easily understood by society. This victory not only shows her creativity in utilizing digital media for educational purposes, but also a reflection of her concern for increasingly complex public health issues.
“This video was made because I believe that health education can reach more people when delivered through effective digital platforms. The cancer rate continues to increase, and education is a very important first step,” explains Silfi.
Moving forward, Silfi is also active in the scientific world. Until now, she has successfully published three journal articles consisting of thesis results, community service reports, and case studies. All of these articles contribute to the development of nursing science, especially in the field of medical-surgical nursing, which is Silfi’s main interest.
During her studies at Unsoed, Silfi was also known as an active student in organizations. She was listed as a member of the Nursing Department Student Association (HMJK) and the Student Legislative Council (DLM) of Faculty of Health Sciences, where she honed her leadership and communication skills that would later be very useful in the workplace.
Her academic journey has not been easy. She pursued higher education with support from the KIP Kuliah program, which greatly helped ease her family’s finances. Despite her learning challenges during the pandemic, including limited learning tools and access to practical materials, she continued to show perseverance and a high learning spirit.
Currently, Silfi has been declared the best nurse graduate. She admitted that her most memorable experience during college was when she succeeded in performing medical actions such as independent intravenous cannulation, as well as learning directly from various real cases in hospitals and health centers, including at the Surakarta Mental Hospital.
In the future, Silfi plans to serve as a nurse in a public hospital and is determined to continue her education to the Master of Nursing level after she is financially stable. She hopes to continue to develop her knowledge and contribute widely to improving public health services.
Silfi’s achievement is an inspiration for many students that limitations are not a barrier to creativity. With strong determination, hard work, and a positive environment, anyone can achieve excellence in the fields they pursue.
