[unsoed.ac.id, Wed, 14/05/25] PT Berkah Agro Tococo Indonesia (Tococo Indonesia) is a real example of how the role of university business incubators can encourage local MSMEs to upgrade and compete at the national level. Established in 2020 in Banyumas, this business focuses on innovating coconut products such as Tococo Chips, Alcoco Cooking Oil, and other various coconut-derived products.
An important milestone in this business journey began in 2022, when Tococo Indonesia joined as a tenant of the Business Incubator Center (PIB) of Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed). This decision was one of the strategic steps that paved the way for faster and more sustainable business growth.
“To join with PIB Unsoed provides some tangible benefits that greatly affect business development,” said Alfito Yuro Yudistiro, owner of Tococo Indonesia.
Access to Business Coaching and Mentoring
Collaboration with PIB Unsoed has a real impact on Tococo Indonesia's business development. The company receives intensive coaching from experts and academics, including business mentoring, managerial training, legal consultation, and strategies to increase production and distribution.
“With guidance from business experts and academics, Tococo Indonesia has succeeded in strengthening its business foundation professionally,” Alfito added.
Extensive Network and Collaboration
As a PIB tenant, Tococo Indonesia has access to an extensive network that includes the government, academics, communities, industry players, and the media.
“This pentahelix collaboration opens up partnership opportunities, both in product development, marketing, and support for community empowerment programs,” he explained.
Expansion and Market Access Opportunities
Through PIB facilitation, Tococo Indonesia has the opportunity to participate in various exhibitions, competitions, and business forums at the regional, national, and international levels. This expands market reach and improves product branding. As a result, Tococo Chips is now available in various retailers and is starting to be widely recognized in Indonesia.
Supported by PIB Unsoed, Tococo Indonesia can strengthen its business position as a pioneer of healthy coconut snacks that are non-MSG, non-preservative, gluten-free, and use virgin coconut oil. Not only that, the company is also committed to providing social and environmental impacts, such as empowering local coconut farmers, housewives, and people with disabilities in Banyumas.
"Collaboration with PIB Unsoed is not just an incubation facility but an ecosystem that encourages MSMEs to grow holistically: business develops, networks expand, and social impact is created. With superior products such as Tococo Chips, Alcoco Cooking Oil, and other coconut derivatives, Tococo Indonesia is ready to continue to innovate and contribute to the regional and national economy. Together with PIB Unsoed, we are optimistic about stepping into the global market," he concluded.
