Totebag Painting Workshop: A Creative Initiative in Support of the Go Green Movement

[unsoed.ac.id, Mon, 05/19/25] In an effort to raise public awareness of environmental issues while supporting the go green movement, a Tote Bag Painting Workshop was held on Saturday, May 10, 2025. This activity was a collaboration between PBL Unsoed x Pringsewu and the Jemari Alana art community, both of which are committed to driving positive change through educational and creative approaches.

“We want to combine project-based learning with tangible contributions to society and the environment,” said Syakira Rizka Damayanti, Chair of the event committee.

She added that PBL Unsoed x Pringsewu is part of the Project-Based Learning program, which involves students from Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) collaborating with Pringsewu Restaurant as an industry partner.

Meanwhile, Jemari Alana is known for organizing various creative workshops focused on art and community empowerment through skill-based activities.

This workshop was attended by 26 participants from various backgrounds who enthusiastically expressed their creative ideas through painting on cloth tote bags. In addition to being a medium for artistic expression, this activity also served as a form of education on the importance of reducing the use of single-use plastic bags by encouraging the use of tote bags as an environmentally friendly alternative.

As a token of appreciation, the committee awarded prizes to the three best works, which were judged based on creativity, relevance to the environmental theme, and uniqueness of design. These awards were given to foster innovative spirit and instill a sense of caring for nature conservation.

Through this activity, the organizers hope to create collective awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and encourage behavioral change among the community through a fun, inspiring, and participatory approach.
