UNSOED Expands the International Community Service Program to Vietnam

[unsoed.ac.id, Rab, 30/07/25] Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) is enhancing its global presence by launching the International Community Service Program (KKN) for the July–August 2025 period. This year, Unsoed is expanding the KKN program to include Vietnam, in addition to its established partnerships with Malaysia and Thailand, which have been long-time participants in the international KKN program.

The Community Service Program in Vietnam was organized in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH). Eight students from different faculties at Universitas Sebelas Maret (Unsoed) participated in this program. They engaged in community service activities alongside USSH students while also introducing Indonesian culture through various joint initiatives. One notable event was the celebration of ASEAN Day, which took place on Monday, July 29, 2025.

Prof. Dr. Elly Tugiyanti, M.Si, the Head of the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) at Unsoed, attended in person to support the students at the activity site in Vietnam. This activity began on July 5, 2025, and is still ongoing. The students are being supervised by Dr. Condro Wibowo, M.Sc., from the Faculty of Agriculture, and Dr. Elpeni Fitrah, M.A., from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP).

Prof. Elly Tugiyanti stated, “This cross-cultural experience and international collaboration are essential for broadening students’ horizons and fostering social sensitivity in a global context.”

Students engage in a variety of educational, social, and cultural activities aimed at strengthening international relations in Southeast Asia and enhancing the role of young people in grassroots diplomacy.

This International Community Service Program is part of Unsoed’s strategy to develop cross-border service networks and promote collaborative, participatory learning that makes a meaningful contribution to the global community.
