[unsoed.ac.id, Mon, 01/06/25] The Student Nature Lovers Environmental Scout Unit (UPL MPA) of Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) demonstrated its commitment to developing capacity and safety in outdoor activities by actively participating in the Joint Training for Rock Climbing for Nature Lovers Students in Banyumas.
This event was organized by the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation (FPTI) Banyumas Regency Branch on May 24–25, 2025, at Kromong Cliff, Karangkemojing Village, Gumelar District, Banyumas Regency.
The training was attended by various representatives of Nature Lovers Student Clubs (Mapala) from across the Banyumas region and aimed to improve technical skills and safety procedures in rock climbing.
“During the event, participants, including delegates from UPL MPA Unsoed, received comprehensive training. The main focus of the training was on deepening the safety procedures in rock climbing activities, which is a crucial aspect of every rock climbing activity,” said UPL MPA Unsoed Chairman M Arjunaja.
In addition, participants were also provided with an understanding of the basic rules of rock climbing competitions in accordance with FPTI standards for 2024, which are important for the development of athletes and the standardization of competitions at the regional level. Not only did they learn theory, but participants also directly practiced climbing techniques at Kromong Cliff.
“UPL MPA Unsoed’s active participation in this activity confirms the organization’s strategic role in promoting safe rock climbing activities that comply with standards. This activity also serves as an important event to strengthen solidarity among Mapala members in Banyumas and exchange experiences in the development of rock climbing,” explained Arjunaja.
UPL MPA Unsoed expressed its appreciation to FPTI Banyumas for organizing this beneficial activity, as well as to all Mapala participants for the spirit of togetherness they demonstrated throughout the event. It is hoped that the knowledge and skills gained can be widely implemented in various activities, both on campus and in the community.
