Additionally, the changing dynamics of relationships between countries, as well as the economic growth or slowdown in other nations, also impact us.
“Hopefully, the presence of Dr. A. Elga J. Sarapung and her team will inspire us. The principle of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is collaboration, and this unity, especially in the field of education, can help us increase access to quality, relevant, and impactful higher education,” said the rector.
Dr. A. Elga J. Sarapung, a member of the YAPPIKA Board of Trustees, stated that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signifies the beginning of a strategic collaboration for the future, which holds significance for both individuals and society as a whole.
She emphasized that the BASIS program aims to develop supportive infrastructure for civil society and promote inclusive democracy. This program takes an integrated approach to fostering a conducive civic space in Indonesia.
In this context, universities play a vital role not only as educational institutions but also as catalysts for social transformation.
“Education plays a crucial role in fostering a strong civil society, with universities being key centers for learning and knowledge production. These institutions provide young people, who are instrumental in shaping the future, with essential insights into the importance of democracy, justice, and respect for human rights,” said Dr. Elga.
Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), a public discussion was held on the theme, “Young People, the State, and Its Challenges in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” The discussion featured four experts: Elga J.
