[unsoed.ac.id, Sun, Feb 22, 2026] The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) hosted a Microcounseling & Crisis Response: Upgrading Campus Counselor Competencies training on Friday (February 20, 2026), at the Integrated Laboratory Meeting Room, 5th Floor, FEB Unsoed. Twenty-five FEB lecturers participated in the program as part of an effort to enhance their ability to serve as both academic advisors and student counselors.
The program, led and initiated by Dwita Darmawati, was created to address the increasingly complex challenges students face, including academic pressure, anxiety about future careers, and personal or family issues impacting academic performance. Through this training, lecturers gained brief counseling (microcounseling) skills and learned safe, empathetic, and practical crisis response strategies. The event was officially opened by Poppy Dian Indira Kusuma, Vice Dean III of FEB Unsoed, who highlighted the growing strategic importance of academic advisors.
“Lecturers no longer serve solely administrative functions, but also carry moral and professional responsibilities to support students holistically, both academically and personally,” she stated.
The session featured psychologist Rahmawati Wulansari as the keynote speaker, who discussed microcounseling, active listening techniques, open-ended questions, and supportive crisis response strategies. Participants also learned about the importance of building empathetic relationships and applying coaching methods when mentoring students.
As the program chair, Dwita Darmawati emphasized that the training is a key step toward building a more responsive campus ecosystem that focuses on student well-being.
“We hope lecturers can become mentors who not only support students academically but also serve as empathetic listeners and companions who make a positive impact,” she said.
Through this initiative, FEB Unsoed reaffirms its commitment to enhancing academic services and creating a safe, supportive, and student-centered learning environment.
