[unsoed.ac.id, Fri, Feb 20, 2026] – The Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) continues to grow its international network. On Wednesday (February 18, 2026), at the Blater Campus in Purbalingga, faculty leaders held a strategic partnership meeting with Tokiwa Dengyo Co., LTD, a company based in Jepang.
The meeting was attended by faculty leaders, including the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Agus Maryoto, and the President Director of Tokiwa Dengyo, Seiichi Takeno. The main focus of the discussion was coordinating internship programs and career paths for engineering students in Japan.
In his remarks, Agus Maryoto highlighted the importance of adaptability for students. He expressed hope that students would not only master technical skills but also quickly adjust to Japan’s work culture, which is known for discipline and precision.
“We hope Unsoed engineering students can adapt quickly. We want this internship program to serve as a bridge for them to pursue professional careers in Japan after graduation,” he said.
Building on this, Seiichi Takeno stated that the company has developed a comprehensive training program.
“Students who are currently studying Japanese will receive ongoing training until March 2027,” he stated.
One of the main points discussed during the Q&A session was academic credit transfer. The university confirmed that the internship program at Tokiwa Dengyo can be converted into up to 12 academic credits (SKS), including the Community Service Program (KKN), with prior coordination with the university’s research and community service institute.
Student representative Naufal Wafi showed enthusiasm for the program.
“We are committed to seriously studying Japanese in preparation for our internship departure this coming September,” he said.
The company also incorporated aspects of Japan’s work culture, including strict discipline during work hours, such as restrictions on mobile phone use to stay focused. Standard work hours are set at 40 hours per week, with overtime based on operational needs.
For Electrical Engineering students, workplace safety certification was emphasized as especially important due to technical risks in the field, while language proficiency remains a basic requirement.
The event ended with the signing of an Implementation Arrangement (IA) document and the exchange of souvenirs as a symbol of the start of collaboration between the two institutions.
This initiative supports Unsoed’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by boosting global collaboration and improving the international competitiveness of its graduates.
