[unsoed.ac.id, Fri, 17/7/2026] Students from Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) have once again achieved a proud accomplishment. A team from the Faculty of Law secured third place in the National Faculty of Law Student Academic Writing Competition, held at Semarang University on Tuesday (14 July 2026).
The Unsoed team comprised Ilham Muhamad Fauzan (team leader), Rakha Prasetya Sukanda, and Bagas Hasudungan Sihotang, all of whom are 2024 intake students at the Faculty of Law. This success demonstrates the competitiveness of Unsoed students at the national level and adds to the list of academic achievements of the Unsoed academic community.
At the competition, attended by law students from various universities across Indonesia, participants were asked to analyze issues within the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG). The Unsoed team addressed the MBG program’s governance by offering an analysis and recommendations to support the program’s sustainability.
The team captain, Ilham Muhamad Fauzan, revealed that their participation was driven by a desire to bring honor to their alma mater. Alongside Rakha Prasetya Sukanda and Bagas Hasudungan Sihotang, he wanted to spring a surprise on Unsoed while also using the competition to bring his competitive journey to a close.
Thorough preparations were made over approximately one month to develop the concept and scientific paper, followed by three days of intensive presentation rehearsals leading up to the final round.
According to Ilham, the competition was extremely fierce. The ten best teams from renowned universities across Indonesia competed for the title, creating a highly competitive atmosphere.
“We felt the pressure because the competitive atmosphere was intense. However, representing the prestigious name of Jenderal Soedirman University motivated us to prove that Unsoed students are capable of competing at the national level,” he said.
He added that the team’s success was due to good communication, chemistry among members, mutual respect, and trust in the team captain’s guidance throughout both the preparation and the competition.
Although they managed to bring home third place, Ilham emphasized that this achievement was not the end of their journey. “We’re happy, but we’re not satisfied yet because there are still many other competitions we want to conquer,” he said.
Through this competition, the team gained valuable experience in the importance of quality, hard work, and making a tangible contribution to their alma mater. “We learned that among major universities, a diamond will always remain a diamond. A person’s caliber is determined not only by their alma mater but also by the contribution they can make to it,” he said.
In addition to academic achievements, this competition offers numerous benefits for students’ personal development, ranging from improving critical thinking, academic writing, and public speaking to the ability to present ideas and concepts systematically. They also gain academic experience and expand their networks with students from various universities across Indonesia.
Ilham encouraged Unsoed students to continue actively participating in various competitions to develop their potential.
“Competitions are a means of self-improvement. When we win, we must be grateful and appreciate the results. When we lose, we must evaluate our performance. There is nothing to lose by participating in competitions. I hope that more and more Unsoed students will be driven to uphold the good name of their alma mater at both the national and international levels,” he concluded.
